  • Ram Lala Celebration Held on 22-24 of January 2024 

The Centre has celebrated “Ram Lala pran partishta dibash with great enthusiasm in Jan. 22-24, The South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre and The Ram temple was illuminated light bright colourful light
The woman folk of the neighbour performed Nam kirtan in the morning – A special prayer was offered in this evening.

This event was not merely about the performing a Puja in front of an idol . It has instilled confidence among people.
Lord Rama is not just an ideal figure for Hindus. But also million of people from various faith. The consecration of Ram Lala will serve as inspiration for millions reminding them of their duty towards their mother land. Lord Rama is not a dispute but a solution.

 

  • 81st Birth Anniversary of Mamoni Raisom Goswami observed

14th November to commemorate the 81st birth anniversary of Jnanpith awardee writer Mamoni Raisom Goswami, the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre organized a programme at the Lakhiram Baruah Sadan, Assam Sahitya Sabha here where rich tributes were paid to her legacy.
Noted writer and former president of the Assam Sahitya Sabha Kuladhar Saikia, former vice president of the Sabha, Kanak Chandra Sarma and chairman of the Pollution Control Board Assam, Dr. Arup Misra were present as the guests of the programme.

Recalling his association with the noted writer, Kuladhar Saikia said Mamoni Raisom Goswami had a unique style of writing and portraying different stories of the society. “She was kind and a lovable person. I had the privilege of discussing many topics with the writer. Had she been alive today, I would have discussed with her about the impacts of artificial intelligence on creative writing,” he said.

Ramanjali (Vol-IX-X), a bilingual research journal edited by Prof Upendra Nath Sarma and published by the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre, was also released by Kanak Chandra Sarma during the programme.
Earlier, Sabita Sarma, Director of the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre delivered the welcome adress and briefed the gathering about some initiatives of the Centre to preserve the works of Mamoni Raisom Goswami, the founder of the Centre.

 

  • An intensive discourse on the topic “ Madhavkandali Assamese Ramayana a new quest in the light of Indian Ramayani Literature ” was held on 3rd September Sunday 2023

On 3rd September Sunday 2023 under the aegis of its Academic Council the function aims at promoting research and providing a platform for young upcoming researchers .
The Madhav Kandali Ramayana is still a challenge to the new researchers. This was noted by Shri Kanak Chandra Sarma during a seminar-cum-interactive session on the vernacular epic organised by the South-East Asia Ramayana Research Centre, Guwahati, on Sunday. Convened under the directorship of Dr. Sabita Sarma, the programme began with the auspicious mangalacharan by Dr. Nandita Bhattacharya who also recited two hymns from the Rig Veda. In his opening remarks, Kanak Chandra Sarma highlighted a few crucial areas of investigation with respect to the Madhav Kandali Ramayana, namely, its critical–textual study, the presence of multiple recensions, authorial interventions into the text, and the geographical–historical positioning of the patron-king Mahamanikya.

The programme was expertly coordinated by Dr. Pritima Sharma who also drew attention towards the performance of Kandali’s Ramayana through the classical dance-forms. The programme ended with the Vote of Thanks by Dr. Sabita Sarma, the director of the centre. Noted scholars , students and many researchers from colleges and universities attended the seminar.

 

  • Book Release Function “Indira Goswami Margin and beyond” was held on 4th February 2023

Indira Goswami Margin and beyond was released on 4th February 2023 at 3 PM. The book was edited by Namrata Pathak and Dibyajyoti Sarma.The event took place at South East Asia Ramayana research centre, Umakanta Goswami Enclave, by-lane 6.
Part of the writers in context series, Indira Goswami: Margins and Beyond, published by UK-BASED academic publishing house Routledge (Taylor and Francis Group), proposes to re-evaluate the life and work of the Jnanpith Award winner Indira Goswami for a new generation of readers.

The contributor to the book includes well-known names such as Hiren Gohain; Jyotirmoy Prodhani; Pradip Acharya; Gayatri Bhattacharya; Aruni Kashyap; Sanjoy Hazarika; Nandita Basu; Amit R Baishya; Sabita Sarma; Kaushal Dutta; Dhrubajyoti Sarma; Uddipana Goswami; Arup Sarma; Nizara Hazorika; Sabreen Ahmed; Anindita kar; stuti Goswami; Jahnu Bhardwaj and Daisy Barman; among others.Sabita Sarma Director of the Centre inaugurated the book and delivered a lecture on Indira Goswami’s life and literature.
Rani Gohain – Anizuz Jaman was also speaker of the occasion.

 

  • REMEMBERING MAMONI RAISOM GOSWAMI ON HER 80TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

The city celebrated the 80th Birth anniversary of noted literary icon Mamoni Raisom Goswami on 14th November 2022 at the premises of South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre for Ramayani studies in Gandhi Basti Guwahati. On Monday, she was remembered through songs, recitation and a small cultural events. The event began with lighting of memorial lamp by Amarjyoti Choudhary and singer poet Kriti Kamal Bhuyan and her family member.

Sabita Sarma, Director of South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre for welcomed the guests and highlighted on the works that are being conducted by the Centre and commented that “Presence of audience itself is a gift for Mamoni Baidew.” Rani Gohain, the President addressed the audience. The cultural program was organize by Aporna Buzarbarua.

 

  • REMEMBERING MAMONI RAISOM GOSWAMI ON HER 79TH BIRTH ANNIVERSARY

Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s 79th birthday anniversary was celebrated in the premises of ‘Ramanjali’ South-East Asia Research Centre maintaining all the covid protocols on 14 th November 2021.The occasion was presided by litterateur and bureaucrat Kanak Chandra Sharma .The event was marked by lighting of ceremonial lamp by Debashish Sharma,Commissioner GMC,in presence of Prof Robin Goswami, Kanak chandra Sharma , educationist Gautam Sharma and director of South-East Asia Ramayana Research Centre Sabita Sarma and Rani Gohain, President of the Centre delivered the welcome address .

Annual Research Journal ‘Ramanjali’ edited by renowned educationist Prof. Upendra Nath Sarma was released by literatteur and bureaucrat Kanak Chandra Sharma . Speaking on the occasion , he spoke “ the importance and significance of the works of Mamoni Raisom Goswami should be studied objectively from above the level of petty intellectual , lobby centric and political considerations. ”

Indrani Raimedhi , renowned journalist in her speech shared her personal experiences with the literary icon and stated that there is lot more to do .
The Director of South-East Asia Research Centre, Sabita Sarma addressing the guests promised to preserve the literary treasures of the great writer and also committed several other future plans for the centre. The event was made lively by a kirtan sung by Biplab Gogoi and his companion and few admirers recited poem written for the occasion .

 

  • The South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre organized Birthday And Death Anniversary of Late Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami Held in 2020

Late Indira Goswami, popularly known by her pen name Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami is a distinguished name in the world of literature. so taking a step ahead to commemorate her Birthday on 14th November, a small cultural event was organized and choreographed by Sabita Sarma, General Secretary of Ramayani Centre maintaining all the covid protocols.
The cultural ceremony was marked by lighting of lamp by Rani Gohain and Professor Anil Kumar Goswami. Admirers paid homage to the writer in the premises of Ramanjali. Sabita Sarma and trust promised to preserve the literary treasures of the great writer and also aimed to expand the Ramayani centre to the unreached. The event ended with a positive note giving a clearer idea about the vision of Ramayani centre and its future goals.

Again on 29th of November 2020 Naam-kirtan and Puja was held to mark the 9th death anniversary of Mamoni Baidew. It was organized by Sabita Sarma to pay tribute to the great litterateur. Host of relatives, friends and admirers of the late writer visited the centre and paid floral tributes to her.

 

  • The South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre organized the third Mamoni Raisam Goswami 3rd Memorial Lecture at Sudmersen Hall of the Cotton University on 7 th December 2019.

Professor Esther Syiem senior faculty in the department of English, North-Eastern Hill University, Shillong and also a distinguished literature. Poet and translator spoke on “Aspects of Orality in literatures of the Northeast.” The event was attended by students, faculty members, guest and other members of the University.
The lecture was followed by a lively interaction between the audience and the speaker Sabita Sarma director of the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre delivered the welcome address.The other dignitaries present during the event were registers of Cotton University, Professor Diganta Kumar Das, intellectual Dr. Hiren Gohain and members of Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s family too were present.

 

  • Celebration of Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s Birthday & Released of Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s Short Story Collection (Magnoliya)

Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s 77th birthday anniversary was celebration with colorful programmes in ‘Ramanjali’ South-East Asia Research Centre. The occasion was presided by Prof. Upendra Nath Sarma, special guest were Swapnanil Barua and Dr. Anil Kumar Goswami.
Dr. Hiren Gohain released Mamoni Raisam Goswami’s collection of short stories ‘Magnoliya’. The book titled ‘Magnoliya’ is a compilation of 28 short stories edited by Sabita Sarma and jointly published by South-East Asia Ramayana Research Centre and Purbayon Publication.
These stories were penned by the internationally acclaimed writer during her early days and comprise both reality and imagination.The stories were published during 1954-1962 in various newspaper and magazine.

 

  • Annual Journal ‘Ramanjali’ Was inaugurated on 2nd July, 2019 in South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre

Annual Journal ‘Ramanjali’ Was inaugurated on 2nd July, 2019 in South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre located in Gandhi Basti, Notun Sarania, Guwahati. This was the Fourth Edition edited by Upendra Nath Sarma and inaugurated by Bhabesh Ch Goswami, Vice Chancellor of Cotton University. The program was presided by Govinda Prasad Sarma. A felicitation was given to Anita Singh for her translation of Mamoni Raisom Goswami’s Adha Lekha Dastabej into Manipuri language for winning Sahitya Academi Translation award.
The meeting was attended by Kanak Ch Sarma, Satyendra Narayan Goswami, Sailen Bharali, Dr. Malinee Goswami and many other diginitaries.

2nd Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Lecture was held on 29th November, 2018 in Sudmersen Hall of Cotton University under the aegis of South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre in collaboration with the English Department of Cotton University. The 2nd Memorial Lecture was delivered by eminent novelist Namita Gokhale on the topic “Words Are All We Have”.
The welcome address was given by Mrs Sabita Sarma on behalf of the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre. A brief introduction of Namita Gokhale was delivered by Prof. Gautam Sarma and vote of thanks was given by Prof. Santanu Phukan. The lecture was attended by many eminent scholars like Dr. Hiren Gohain, Dr. Dhrubajyoti Borah, Dhirendra Nath Bezbaruah, Prof. Bhabesh Ch. Goswami and others.

 

  • 76th Birthday of late Dr. Mamoni Raisom Goswami held on 14th November, 2018

The auspicious event was celebrated like every year. This Year the event was conducted on South East Asia Ramayana Research Center located on Gandhi Basti, Natun Sarania which was successfully organized by ‘Chachal Sakha Lekhika Samaroh Samiti’ in association with South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre.
The Event was inaugurated by the director-Sabita Sarma with lightening of the lamp. A no. of eminent personalities like dignified writer Anuradha Sarma Pujari and Nilima Bora paid tribute to Mamoni Raisom Goswami through their speech. Some cultural performances were also highlight of the event.

 

  • Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Quiz on Ramayana held on 2nd Sept 2018

A quiz contest on Mamoni Raisom Goswami and Ramayana literature was organised on September 2nd by the South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre at Tirthanath Sarma Auditorium, Chandmari, Guwahati.
The quiz was conducted by Nabakanta Baishya. Total of 12 teams took part in the quiz contest was open for students from class VIII to XII.
The first prize of Rs 5000 was won by Ankujyoti Sarma and Madhurjya Goswami of Cotton University.
The 2nd prize of Rs 3000 by Bornil Medhi, Devanit Dutta and Animesh Deka of Assam Jatiya Vidyalaya,
while the 3rd prize of Rs 2000 was won by Sanjib Kumar Das, Niyor Pratim Kalita and Partha Pratim Sarma
also from Cotton University. The winners also received books and certificates.
The welcome address was delivered by Sabita Sarma, Director of the center.Speaking on the occasion noted writer Phanindra Kumar Deb Choudhury stressed the need for more research on various aspect of the Ramayana.

First Mamoni Raisom Goswami Memorial Lecture was held on 29th November 2017 in Vivekananda Kendra Centre located in Guwahati.This Was the First Memorial Lecture delivered by Speaker Prof.Harish Trivedi of Delhi University on the topic The Ramayana along Four Rivers-Brahmaputra,Ganga,Kaveri and Chao Phraya.The welcome address was given by Executive President Mrs.Sabita Sarma.

The birth anniversary of Gynanpith Award winning writer Mamoni Raisom Goswami was celebrated by South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre at Vivekananda Kendra.A number of eminent personalities Dr. Amarjyoti Choudhury , Tilottama Barua, poet Nilim Kumar , Anupam Kumar paid tribute to the Ramayani scholar.

          

 

  • 14th November 2015 74th Birth Anniversary of Mamoni Raisom Goswami.

The birth anniversary of Gynanpith Award winning writer Mamoni Raisom Goswami was celebrated by South East Asia Ramayana Research Centre at Rabindra Bhawan. Function was inaugurated by Harakrishna Deka. Translated version of Dr. Indira Goswami Book From Ganga To Brahmaputra by Parthapratim Hazarika was inaugurated by Dr. Gobinda Prasad Sarma. A major highlight of the evening was Apeksha a dramatic adapatation of the writer’s widely read story Dataal Haatir Uie Khowa Hawda, presented by the Seagull theatre group.

A number of eminent personalities are invited to create interest on Ramayana Research and spread the knowledge on Ramayana and contributions of Dr. Indira Goswami on peace hope and harmony among people cutting across language and religion.
